Project Overview

Introduction

MCP Group are the largest automated Pallet manufacturer in Ireland producing over 3.5 million wooden pallets per annum including ISPM15 Heat Treated Wooden Pallets, Standard Pallets, Euro pallets and Wooden Crates and Boxes. 

Background

Recently one of our large international customer was expanding its manufacturing operations in Ireland and needed a partner to design and supply a range of Pallets to help transport their manufactured food products both nationally and internationally.    As an added challenge this customer was involved in a heavily regulated industry with multiple state of the art production facilities and different production lines.   Therefore, their process was heavily automated, and accuracy of Pallets being supplied to them was critical.  

Problem/Challenge

In addition, this customer was part of a much larger international company and therefore, the supply chain approval system was long and laborious.  Therefore, there had to be multiple trials, specifications etc. to ensure approval across multiple stakeholders.  Also, although a specific size and style of Pallet was being prescribed by the Parent Company, we had to work with the stakeholders and adjust accordingly (especially due to the nature of the new state of the art machine). 

Key Results

Solution/Outcome

We have often found that collaboration is key to ensuring supply chain success.  Therefore, MCP Group was available on site or over the phone at every stage of the commissioning process to offer knowledge, expertise etc. and ensure success.   To date we have produced over 100,000 pallets for this customer with precision and accuracy that one expects from an MCP Group Pallet.   In fact, MCP Group are renowned for producing the highest quality Pallets for sale in the industry from their 3 automated Pallet manufacturing machines and are successfully ISO 9001:2015 certified for the manufacture, heat treatment and repair of wooden pallets, boxes and packaging assembly.

Conclusion/Key Findings

From Food & Beverage, to Pharmaceutical; from Medical Devices to Manufacturing; and from Dairy to Digital Technology, MCP Group’s Wooden {allets have carried more products and types of products across our 47 year history.  However, we have often found that the humble Pallet is often the forgotten piece of a jigsaw on how a company transports their goods (either nationally or internationally) and therefore it is essential that each step in the supply chain collaborate as early as possible to ensure success.
